According to Foresight News, Bitlayer, a Bitcoin native second-layer project based on Bitcoin finality, announced that it has contributed the first feasible Groth16 verification script split implementation to the BitVM open source project. The 1 GB Groth16 verification script is split into 975 chunks, and all chunks can meet the Bitcoin runtime limit. This implementation completes the key components in the BitVM implementation, making it possible for the BitVM protocol to run on the Bitcoin mainnet. In addition, Bitlayer revealed that it plans to launch the BitVM bridge testnet by the end of 2024.
