ChainCatcher news reported by Decrypt, the French multinational company Schneider Electric has suffered a ransomware attack, with the hacker group 'Hellcat' demanding $125,000 worth of baguettes or cryptocurrency Monero as ransom, otherwise they will release 40GB of sensitive data stolen from the company.
It is reported that the organization published the ransom statement through anonymous social media accounts, claiming to have obtained key information about the company's customers and operations. This attack marks the third cyber attack incident on Schneider Electric in two years.
The company confirmed it is investigating the incident, stating that the attacked platform was in a quarantined environment, and the company's products and services were not affected. Analysis indicates that the hackers' request for baguettes was for 'marketing' purposes to raise their profile in the ransomware market.
