ChainCatcher reported that according to CoinDesk, according to Polymarket's prediction, during Trump's second presidential term, the protesters on January 6 are more likely to be pardoned than Ross William Ulbricht, the founder of "Silk Road", but the probability difference is not large. Polymarket's bettors gave the protesters on January 6 an 86% probability of being pardoned, while the probability of Ulbricht being pardoned was 78%.

Trump has publicly said that the protesters on January 6 were patriots framed by a "dual justice system" that allegedly unfairly targets his supporters, just as he believes he is facing politically motivated charges. He has described the events of January 6 as a "day of love," claiming that his supporters were simply responding to a "rigged" election.

During the campaign, Trump promised that if re-elected he would commute Ulbricht’s sentence to time served (which is different from a pardon) and pardon the Jan. 6 defendants, calling the moves a reflection of his opposition to government overreach and support for individual freedom.
