It is very likely that we will see @initia distribute airdrops to the stakers of Celestia.
Let's analyze this in detail:
Similar to Dymension, which previously airdropped to the stakers of Celestia. Initia makes the release of Rollups simpler.
The only DA (Data Availability) solution provided by Initia is Celestia.
Initia is part of the Celestia ecosystem (this fact is not always a hundred percent determining factor, as Manta may not be).
Moreover, Initia is an L1 blockchain that requires its native token $INIT to launch on day one. Users can provide liquidity for $INIT with whitelist tokens and stake both to secure Initia's L1 network through validator nodes.
What is the purpose of the airdrop❓
Decentralized network, distributing tokens to as many individual users as possible.
Allowing the earliest supporters to gain benefits and cultivating them into a “follower-like” community that supports and participates in the project long-term.
Conducting a “vampiric” attack on adjacent user groups to attract and win them over. Examples include: Wormhole conducted a TGE before LayerZero (reaching a market cap of 17 billion at launch, still 33% higher than ZRO); Omni airdropped to Miladys; Dymension airdropped to Celestia stakers; Wormhole airdropped to MadLads; Avail airdropped to Starknet users; Celestia airdropped to L2 users, etc.
Potential Issues
The initial allocation will not be as large as Dymension, the testnet already has soft confirmations. Users can earn esINIT through various tasks on the mainnet.
Although the quality of Initia's Rollups is much higher than that of Dymension (for example, @zaar_gg), the currently depressed altcoin market and the lack of risk appetite for venture capital tokens may lead to a lower launch valuation. Perhaps Initia does not care and will not airdrop to Celestia stakers. "Even ATOM had at least five profitable airdrops, even though it is less substantial than Celestia, while you only received Dymension." — a rather sharp comparison.
Unlike before Dymension, it is now not recommended to stake TIA, as Initia's mainnet is expected to launch this November or December (unless there are delays).
