Quick take:

  • The fundraising was completed across two tranches, with the first tranche raising 43 million in February and the second one $7 million in August, The Block reported.

  • The round attracted participation from a16z Crypto Startup Accelerator (CSX), Credo Ventures and BlockTower Capital.

  • Members from World (formerly Worlcoin), Tools for Humanity and Aztec joined as angel investors.

Vlayer has raised $10 million in a pre-seed funding round backed by a16z Crypto Startup Accelerator (CSX), Credo Ventures and BlockTower Capital. The fundraising also attracted participation from notable Web3 contributors who joined as angel investors including World’s (formerly Worldcoin) Remco Bloemen, Jakub Florkiewicz from World developer Tools For Humanity and Aztec’s Zac Williamson, Joe Andrews and Kev Wedderburn.

The fundraising was completed across two tranches, with the first tranche of $3 million closing in February, while the second tranche of $7 million closed in August, Hubert Rachwalski von Rejchwald, co-founder and CEO of Vlayer, told The Block.

The company is building “Solid 2.0” a verifiable data infrastructure that introduces new functionality to Ethereum’s programming language, allowing developers to verify and integrate real-world data into Ethereum smart contracts.

Some of the new functionalities of Solidity 2.0 include Time Travel — which enables the execution of historical data on-chain and Teleport — which enables smart contracts to run across multiple EVM-compatible networks.

Others include Web proofs/ zkTLS for verifying and integrating web content, including APIs and Websites, as well as, Email Proofs for accessing and verifying email content.

“We offer access to additional verifiable data sources directly from Solidity code,” Rejchwald said. “This means that ZK will be finally productized as something that is familiar and easy to use for any Solidity smart contract developer.”

According to Rejchwald is the first project to have all these functionalities integrated into one platform, in what he calls a holistic approach to key verifiable data sources.

“For web proofs, you should know zkPass or Reclaim Protocol, for email proofs you could use directly ZK Email, while storage proofs have Axiom, Lagrange or Brevis,” he said.

Vlayer is currently in an “open alpha” phase with the testnet, mainnet and a token launch expected no sooner than 2025, he said.
