After spending four months in a U.S. prison, Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, has decided not to return as the leader of the cryptocurrency exchange he created. He accepted a plea deal with the U.S. government after Binance faced issues related to anti-money laundering rules. This deal led to his prison time and a large fine. Although CZ is still the biggest shareholder in Binance, he stated he has no desire to take back an executive role. Speaking at a Binance event, CZ shared his desire to move forward and focus on new projects in technology and education.

Now, CZ is putting his efforts into new ventures like an educational program called Giggle Academy, along with other investments in blockchain, artificial intelligence, and biotech. He reflected on his prison experience, saying it was challenging but also allowed him to meet people he now considers friends. He even hopes to help some of them with their legal cases. While he won’t be involved in Binance’s management, he maintains a good connection with the company and respects the team now handling operations.
