CoinVoice has recently learned, according to Protos, that a 25-year-old Japanese man was sentenced to three years in prison for using generative AI to create encrypted ransomware.

The man bypassed the AI's security parameters by continuously adjusting the prompts, creating code that could encrypt device data and demand cryptocurrency ransom. He admitted upon arrest: "I wanted to make money through ransomware."

This judgment is Japan's first case of sentencing for the abuse of generative AI, with the judge ultimately granting a four-year suspended sentence because the man expressed remorse and did not use the ransomware code. [Original link]
