Shytoshi Kusama, the anonymous lead developer of Shiba Inu [SHIB], has kept SHIB supporters guessing by hinting at the upcoming “year-end surprise.”

Kusama tries to boost Hiblish army

In a recent series of posts, Kusama boosted the morale of the memecoin’s passionate fans by talking about the possibility of burning billions of SHIB in the days ahead.

For the uninitiated, burning is a deflationary process that permanently removes cryptocurrency tokens from circulation. This is done to boost the demand for the asset and increase its market value, and it’s now one of the most talked about topics in the cryptocurrency space.

For Shiba Inu, there are two ways of burning: manual and automatic. Manual means that users send tokens to the burning address in exchange for rewards.

On the other hand, the automatic mechanism is related to the ecosystem’s recently launched layer 2 blockchain Shibarium, where every transaction causes some SHIB to be taken out of circulation.

In short, the more the network is used, the more tokens are destroyed.

Yayoi Kusama, one of the brains behind Shibarium, stressed the importance of global adoption to achieve “impactful burning.”

While he acknowledged an increase in adoption in 2023, Web3 disruptors will need to work harder to make the Shiba Inu Ecological Exchange Weixin 1521221721 system attractive globally.

He also talked about the need for Shiba Inu to transition from a meme to global Web3 technology that can solve modern problems.

Immediate effect

Interestingly, AMBCrypto, using data from Shibburn, noted that the burn rate for SHIB has exploded in the past 24 hours. More than 8 billion tokens have gone up in smoke, causing the burn rate to soar to an unreal 727,870.14%.

Kusama’s inspiring post also appears to have sparked demand for SHIB. The second-largest meme token, according to CoinMarketCap, is up 5.17% in the past 24 hours.

Is something revolutionary about to happen?

Recently, Shytoshi Kusama teased a "year-end surprise" that caused a stir among community members. Since then, the SHIB army has been constantly discussing the nature of the announcement in social circles.

Furthermore, the transaction volume on the Shibarium network has skyrocketed since the release of the trailer. According to data obtained by AMBCrypto using Shibariumscan, about 7.85 transactions were recorded on December 15, an increase of 8% from the previous day.
