Kobayashi is suspected of leading a gang that used stolen credit card information for fraudulent transactions, attempting to cover the flow of funds with Monero. Investigators were able to trace the transactions of Monero, marking Japan's first case leading to an arrest through such analysis. The gang is accused of conducting approximately 900 fraudulent transactions using stolen credit card details from June 2021 to January 2022.
