Odaily Planet Daily News More than two dozen residents of Granbury, Texas, filed a lawsuit against cryptocurrency mining company Marathon Digital, claiming that the noise from Marathon's local Bitcoin mining facilities is a "nuisance" that has caused "extreme discomfort and annoyance" to residents near the mine. The plaintiffs pointed out that some residents suffered "sensory, emotional, psychological and health effects" due to the "continuous" noise and vibrations from the Marathon mine. Some locals have experienced fatigue, headaches, memory problems, hearing loss, migraines and tinnitus. The organization said that some residents' existing health conditions, such as high blood pressure, have also worsened. "Even in their own homes, (residents) can hear the noise of the MARA Cryptomine and feel its vibrations," the lawsuit said. It added that Marathon's mine "seriously interferes with the private use and enjoyment of the plaintiff members' property." The organization also said that the energy use of Bitcoin mining operations has led to "increased electricity bills and reduced property values." (Cointelegraph)
