According to Cointelegraph, the Ethereum community released a new Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP), in which developers claimed that it would reduce Ethereum’s block time by 33% and increase data capacity — thereby increasing overall throughput by 50%.

Introduced on October 5 by Illyriad Games co-founder Ben Adams, EIP-7781 aims to reduce block times on the Ethereum network from the current 12 seconds to 8 seconds, increase latency based on Rollups, and increase the capacity of Blobs (temporary data structures that reduce L2 network fees).

Additionally, the proposal aims to distribute bandwidth usage over time, reducing peak bandwidth requirements without increasing the number of individual blocks or blobs.
