Axelar Mobius Development Stack (MDS)

Introducing the Axelar Mobius Development Stack (MDS), the next evolutionary step in blockchain engineering. Axelar MDS is a set of open tools and protocols that opens up a new full-chain design space. MDS adopts a new interoperability standard, leveraging the enhanced utility of the $AXL token to enable the unlimited security and scalable functionality of Web3. For the first time, applications can easily connect to users and logic anywhere on the web while maintaining end-to-end authentication and openness.

With Axelar MDS, the possibilities go far beyond simple cross-chain or oracles. Users can send a message on Telegram to rebalance the vault on Sui, which in turn interacts with the DeFi protocol on Arbitrum and the financial institution’s private blockchain. This level of integration and interoperability opens up a new world of possibilities for decentralized applications.

One connection, endless possibilities

The three main components of Axelar MDS are:

  • Cross-chain Scaler: Now live on mainnet, a simple, permissionless way to connect your chain to the Axelar Network and its interconnected chains. It supports dynamic, customizable integrations, and blockchains such as Sui, Aptos, and Solana will soon be connected.

  • Inter-chain Token Service (ITS): A set of institutional-grade tokenization tools that completely replace the traditional cross-chain (Bridges) function and enable token minting and management across any connected blockchain. Through ITS, tokens can be transferred natively across chains while maintaining full functionality and fungibility.

  • Axelar Virtual Machine (AVM): supports smart contract logic at the cross-chain layer, supports cross-chain extended functions and ITS, and opens the door to a new generation of multi-chain development tools and complex DApps. Ethereum introduced programmable money, and Axelar introduced programmable interoperability.

In addition, Axelar offers the following additional capabilities, creating the most complete interoperability platform on the market:

  • Flexible enhanced economic security: Provides the ability to customize security for cross-chain extenders by connecting to Ethereum (via EigenLayer) and other external collateral, allowing for custom security configurations for new integrations.

  • Open interoperability interface: Developed in partnership with OpenZeppelin and integrated into OpenZeppelin’s leading smart contract library. Developers adopting these open source semantics can easily plug into any interoperability technology.
