The Central Bureau of Investigation C.B.I has made significant strides in combating global cybercrime through Operation Chakra-III. In this operation, 26 key operatives involved in an international cybercrime syndicate were arrested. The syndicate had been operating illicit call centers in Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Vishakhapatnam, targeting victims primarily in the United States by posing as tech support agents.
The criminals deceived victims into believing that their systems were compromised or their identities stolen, coercing them into transferring funds or making payments through gift cards or cryptocurrency. The operation led to the seizure of 951 electronic devices, ₹58.45 lakh in cash, and luxury vehicles.
