The Open Network (TON) blockchain has proactively asked its validators to prepare for the arrival of millions of users from the Web3 game Hamster Kombat, anticipating a spike in system demand.
On September 25, a Telegram channel dedicated to TON validators, developers, and integrators warned of an upcoming increase in bandwidth demand for its Blockchain.
According to the announcement, TON validators are required to ensure high availability as Hamster Kombat users begin minting Hamster Kombat coins (HMSTR) on-chain:
“The quality of the validators directly affects the quality of the Blockchain. We appreciate your participation in The Open Network.”
TON Validators Unify on Telegram Channel
To ensure real-time support from September 26 to 29, all TON validators were advised to join the ‘TON Status’ Telegram channel and were asked to make any repairs or emergency resources within one hour of instruction.
Furthermore, TON validators are also required to “constantly monitor the status of validators and hardware during these days.” Telegram-based game Hamster Kombat now has 100 million monthly active users. The game claims to be the third app in history to reach and surpass 150 million users, after Pokémon GO and Meta’s Threads.
In a conversation with Us, Sébastien Borget, co-founder of metaverse The Sandbox, previously highlighted the role of Telegram-based games in reinventing the approach to play-to-earn games:
“This is exciting and powerful. It shows how things move in the industry with the network effects of Web3. In just a few weeks or months, they grow to an unbelievable scale.”
Future Plans for Hamster Kombat
On September 25, the Hamster Kombat team revealed a new roadmap, detailing plans for the final quarter of 2024 and 2025.
For Q4 2024, the game will include integrating external payment systems, launching new games within the Hamster ecosystem, and integrating non-fungible tokens as in-game assets.
Hamster Kombat also highlighted that they have banned 2.3 million users for cheating.
