On September 4, Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of RippleLabs, predicted that Gary Gensler, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), would be removed from office regardless of the outcome of the upcoming presidential election. Garlinghouse discussed U.S. encryption policy in light of the November election, saying, "Technology should bridge political divides, and I expect that cryptocurrencies will become more bipartisan as the election progresses." He pointed out that while the Republican Party has taken a more positive attitude toward cryptocurrencies, some Democratic leaders also believe that these technologies are key to maintaining the U.S.'s technological leadership.
