1.Protos: How many L2s does Bitcoin have? Why are there so many L2s?
Unbeknownst to most of the Bitcoin community, there are 400 “layer 2s” running on the blockchain. This rough estimate comes from Lava founder Shehzan. During an August 25th episode of the YouTube Gwart Show, Shehzan, along with Gwart and commentator Shinobi, questioned the benefits of hundreds of Rollups and alternative blockchains using the Bitcoin ledger. 2. Bankless Co-Founder: Argentina’s Crypto Moment
I was in Argentina throughout August, participating in the crypto pop-up city “Aleph” in downtown Buenos Aires. Aleph is part of Zuzalu and Devconnect. Protocol Labs’ top-down support and coordination was a credit to the hundreds of volunteers, community leaders, and ecosystem partners who came together to create a nurturing environment for the next generation of crypto startups in Argentina. In the Aleph Hub, a 1,000-person coworking space, crypto startups, venture capitalists, and the Argentine government came together for a month of collaboration, support, and growth. 4. A former Meta boss created an article detailing Sui's technical architecture and future plans
As blockchain technology continues to develop, Layer 1 blockchains are leading the way in enhancing scalability, security, and transaction speed. Among them, Sui stands out as a notable Layer 1 blockchain designed to provide superior transaction performance and efficiency. In early tests, it achieved 297,000 transactions per second (TPS), significantly better than competitors such as Aptos (founded by Avery Ching and Mo Shaik, who were involved in Diem's Novi wallet) and Solana, both of which have lower TPS. Despite their common origins, Sui is an independent project with no direct connection to Aptos and does not rely on Diem's architecture. Click to read
5. A review of China’s sadomasochistic relationship with encryption
Trump announced yesterday that if elected, he would build the United States into the world's crypto capital. In fact, a few years ago, China was the crypto capital, but under the heavy hammer of policies, only Hong Kong is still fighting to regain this "crypto capital". For example, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate recently clearly listed "virtual asset" transactions as one of the ways of money laundering, which made many people nervous.
