Russian Hackers Retaliate to France for Telegram CEO: Sites Closed

A hacker group believed to be based in Russia is launching a DDoS attack on government websites in France.

The targets of the hackers with links to Russia included sites belonging to the Paris administrative court, the French Ministry of Health and the Supreme Court of Appeals.

Tensions between Russia and France grow

Russia stepped in after Durov was arrested in France. The Russian embassy in Paris contacted the French side and a note was given requesting access to Durov.

According to the statement by the Paris prosecutor’s office, Durov is being investigated for 12 separate crimes, including illegal transactions, child sexual abuse and fraud.

Great support from the cryptocurrency community

The arrest of the Telegram CEO has drawn reaction from the cryptocurrency community. “Do you arrest someone and then see if they did something wrong? Is this what you call ‘rule of law’ and ‘freedom of expression’?” he said.

Elon Musk and Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin were among these names. Buterin said that in light of the current information, Durov’s detention looks “very bad and worrying” for the future of Europe.
