ChainCatcher news: According to Cointelegraph, cybersecurity solutions provider Check Point Research has discovered a new malware called Styx Stealer. The malware can steal a large amount of data, including cryptocurrencies, through a mechanism called shearing.

The malware is available for free rent on the developer's website, and Windows users using the latest operating system are not vulnerable to it because it relies on a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows Defender that was patched last year.

Check Point Research discovered eight wallets presumably belonging to the Turkish Styx Stealer developer, who received around $9,500 in cryptocurrency in the malware’s first two months of operation. Styx Stealer was launched in April and costs $75 per month or $350 for a lifetime subscription.
