According to Bitcoin.com, in a landmark ruling, the Dubai Court of First Instance officially recognized the legality of using cryptocurrencies to pay wages in employment contracts. The case stemmed from a lawsuit filed by an employee for unpaid wages involving 5,250 ecowatt tokens that had not been paid for 6 months. The court confirmed the importance of cryptocurrency as a legal form of remuneration based on Article 912 of the UAE Civil Transactions Law and Federal Decree No. 33 of 2021.
