**San Francisco Sues Over AI 'Nudifying' Websites**
San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu has filed a lawsuit against the owners of 16 websites that use AI to create nonconsensual nude images of women and young girls. The suit, filed on August 15, targets individuals and companies from the U.S., U.K., and Estonia. These sites have amassed 200 million visits in the first half of the year alone.
Chiu's office claims the AI models are trained on explicit content, allowing users to upload photos and generate realistic, pornographic images. This technology has been used to extort, bully, and humiliate victims, including children.
Chiu emphasized the need to combat the misuse of AI, stating, "We have to be very clear that this is not innovation—this is sexual abuse."
