Iran will offer a $24 bounty to anyone who reports illegal cryptocurrency mining activities to authorities as the country faces power shortages due to a severe heat wave, according to Cointelegraph. Temperatures soared to 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius) in parts of Iran, putting pressure on the power grid. The CEO of the country's state-run power company Tavanir claimed that crypto miners have exacerbated the pressure on the grid and that 230,000 illegal crypto mining rigs have been discovered, consuming up to 900 megawatts of electricity.
