PANews reported on August 14 that according to Cointelegraph, Vivek Ramaswamy, a former candidate for the 2024 US presidential election, was asked in an interview with CNBC on August 13 whether he thought presidential candidate Harris would accept the cryptocurrency industry. Ramaswamy responded that he believed that as former President Donald Trump turned cryptocurrency into a campaign issue, Harris' "wording" on the cryptocurrency industry would change in order to win votes from the cryptocurrency community.

Ramaswamy said the sincerity of Harris's pro-crypto stance should be judged by the clarity of her policy positions on key issues such as self-custody and the leadership of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He said: "I ask Harris not to just quote those pious words - to elaborate and say what you really think about asset self-custody. Say what you really think about whether Gary Gensler should continue to be the leader of the SEC."

Ramaswamy ultimately concluded that cryptocurrency should not be a partisan issue, and that even if he disagrees with the specific policies Harris proposes, any well-thought-out cryptocurrency policy stance would greatly benefit the country and the “marketplace of ideas.”
