According to Cointelegraph, the notorious hacker Blockchain Bandit has consolidated 51,000 stolen ETH into a single wallet after lying dormant for nearly two years.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT said in a Telegram post on Dec. 30 that the funds were transferred from 10 wallet addresses to the multi-signature address “0xC45…1D542.”
The funds were transferred primarily in batches of 5,000 ETH between 8:54 pm UTC and 9:18 pm UTC on December 30.
The stolen funds have remained untouched in 10 wallet addresses since January 21, 2023, when the hackers also moved 470 BTC.
Blockchain Bandit has amassed nearly 45,000 ETH by guessing weak private keys and has been carrying out this “programmed theft” since 2016.
According to the Cyvers report, crypto hackers stole more than $2.3 billion worth of assets in 2024, a 40% increase from 2023.
