In cryptocurrencies, prices remained little changed, with derivatives and spot trading volumes falling to their lowest levels in almost a year in August. In news, JPM announced they are exploring the use of digital deposit tokens for cross-border payments and settlements, while former FTX executive Ryan Salame has reached a plea deal with the U.S. government on criminal charges. In terms of regulatory actions, the CFTC filed charges against three Defi platforms, Opyn, ZeroEx and Deridex, including failing to register as SEF/DCM/FCM and illegally providing leveraged “commodity” trading to U.S. retail investors.
