According to Foresight News, the announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice shows that it has shut down the cybercrime marketplace Popeyetools and charged its administrators Abdul Ghaffar, Abdul Sami, and Javed Mirza.

Nicole M. Argentieri, the Director of the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice, stated that the three individuals founded and operated an online marketplace selling illegal goods and services for cybercrime, including ransomware attacks and financial fraud.

The Department of Justice announced the shutdown of the PopeyeTools domain, filed criminal charges against its operators, and seized cryptocurrency. If convicted, the defendants face up to 10 years in prison for each charge.
