According to Decrypt, Trump originally planned to appoint pro-cryptocurrency Scott Bessent or Howard Lutnick as Treasury Secretary, but reconsidered due to interpersonal issues.

Lutnick actively lobbied for his own office and belittled Bessent's ability, which aroused Trump's dissatisfaction. Both of them may be friendly to the cryptocurrency industry. Bessent supports the establishment of Bitcoin reserves, and Lutnick's company manages Tether assets.

Trump is now considering Kevin Warsh and Marc Rowan, who are less supportive of cryptocurrencies than Bessent and Lutnick. Warsh supports the U.S. central bank digital currency, while Rowan is skeptical of digital assets. Trump is particularly interested in Warsh and is expected to meet with both this week.
