Trump picked North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum to lead the Interior Department, ChainCatcher reported, a move that puts Trump's one-time arch-rival in charge of the department.
Burgum became a billionaire after selling his software company, which helped him forge a relationship with Trump, who has eyed Burgum as a potential 2024 rival.
If confirmed by the Senate, Burgum would manage more than 500 million acres of federal lands and underground resources, becoming a key part of Trump’s pledge to increase oil and gas production.
