🚀🔥 Joe Biden's chances of leaving rise to 68% 📉 after Covid diagnosis 💥
The chances of Biden withdrawing from the US presidential election reach 68%, according to traders on Polymarket. His recent Covid diagnosis and his statement that he would step down in the event of a medical problem appears to be shaking up the market.
In an interview with BET News that aired yesterday, Biden said he would consider stepping down if he was diagnosed with a medical condition.
“Is there anything that you personally would look at and say, 'If I see this, I'm going to re-evaluate?'” BET's Ed Gordon asked Biden.
"If I had a medical condition that popped up, if someone, if the doctors came to me and said, 'You have this problem, this problem,'" Biden responded.
Biden's withdrawal odds first climbed after a debate with Republican nominee Donald Trump, rising to 70% from 36% previously, amid widespread criticism of his performance.
After a public relations campaign emphasizing his candidacy and denials of possible replacements, the "Yes" side of the withdrawal contract fell by 34 points to 36%.
A long-running public intervention by Democratic backer George Clooney for Biden to step down temporarily propelled the "Yes" side of the deal up to 66% before falling back into the 30% range. That figure rose again during the Republican National Convention and the selection of a preferred running mate by Trump. The Covid diagnosis further strengthened these chances.
Meanwhile, the odds of Biden withdrawing before the Democratic convention that will confirm his nomination in August are also rising, now reaching 59%.
Polymarket puts Trump at 64% to Biden's 12% in its national election tracking. Kamala Harris, Biden's running mate, is at 19%.
