Last week, X Payments, a subsidiary of X, received permission to transfer funds in another US state. This brings X closer to an important milestone: the company is already licensed in 29 states. It can now transfer money between these 29 regions and aims to become one of the leaders in online payments.
However, once these licenses are obtained, Company X will also need separate approvals to process payments within each state. X has said several times this year that internal payments on the popular social media platform will be launched by the end of the year.
Overall, X already offers the ability to tip any user in cryptocurrency. In 2021, the platform's co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey launched a BTC tipping feature. And when Dorsey left his post as chief executive of the company the following year, ETH gratuities were added.
