GetBlock Magazine - What happened? Journalists from The Block, citing a TON representative, reported that the blockchain team is not associated with the development of a second-level (L2) network based on TON, as previously reported. Thus, on July 9, CoinDesk magazine wrote that TON developers are creating an L2 network called TON Applications Chain (TAC), which is designed to connect decentralized applications (DApps) based on Ethereum virtual machine (EVM)-compatible networks to the TON ecosystem.

What else is known? Later it became known that TAC is being developed by a separate team led by Pavel Altukhov and with the support of the investment company The Open Platform, focused on projects in the TON ecosystem. The project was presented at the Brussels Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC).

TAC is being developed using the Blockchain Creation Kit (CDK) from the Polygon blockchain team using zero-knowledge (ZK) proof technology.

Compatibility with EVM will allow Ethereum developers to transfer their applications to the TON ecosystem and create new programs for the Telegram messenger, with which TON is closely integrated. The new network will enable the creation of decentralized finance platforms, games and decentralized identity solutions.
