Nigeria's Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, has called for the establishment of cryptocurrency regulations in the country, which has met with the newly established Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Edun wanted the SEC to address the complexity of cryptocurrency regulations. Stating that cryptocurrencies are a fast-moving and complex sector, the minister emphasized the need for strict supervision to protect the integrity of Nigeria's capital market. 🏦 The SEC announced plans to update its regulations on digital asset issuances, platforms, exchanges and oversight. However, Edun believes that these changes are not enough and calls for the implementation of corporate governance practices.
