Buterin’s proposed solution involves implementing new Ethereum standards to simplify processes like depositing funds, which could pave the way for greater mainstream adoption of blockchain technology.

Buterin’s X post showcased a side-by-side comparison of the current and proposed processes for depositing USDC stablecoin to Polymarket via the Polygon network, highlighting the challenges users currently face and potential solutions offered by new Ethereum standards.

Currently, depositing on Polymarket requires users to carefully select the correct network – Polygon, not Polygon zkEVM – to avoid losing funds. This step, while crucial, can be confusing and error-prone, especially for those new to the platform or cryptocurrency transactions in general.

To address this, Buterin proposed a streamlined deposit process through the implementation of ERC-3770 and ERC-7683 standards. These standards aim to simplify network selection and cross-chain transactions, making them more intuitive and secure.

Notably, ERC-3770 introduces a new address standard with a human-readable prefix for chain-specific addresses. This allows wallets and decentralized applications (dApps) to display addresses more clearly, helping users easily identify the correct network and reducing the risk of errors.

Meanwhile, ERC-7683 seeks to standardize the format for cross-chain trade intentions. By creating a common language for all bridges and decentralized exchanges (DEXs), this standard aims to simplify cross-chain swaps and ensure consistent, seamless interactions across different networks.

Buterin has called for the adoption of these standards as they represent a significant step towards enhancing the overall user experience in the blockchain ecosystem.Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron chimed in, echoing Buterin’s call for a better user experience. He pointed to Polygon’s track record in making blockchain easier to use, particularly with their work on account abstraction and chain abstraction. Boiron is all in on collaborating with developers to adopt the latest Ethereum standards, making it clear that Polygon is committed to making blockchain accessible to everyone.
