#Blockchain News# The U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee has directed Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to test the potential use of blockchain technology in supply chain management and other national security applications within the U.S. Department of Defense. The committee made it clear in its report on the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025 (NDAA) that blockchain technology has the potential to enhance the cryptographic integrity of the defense supply chain, improve data integrity, and reduce the risk of competitors manipulating or destroying certain types of data. The Senate committee also hopes that the Department of Defense will explore blockchain use cases to achieve national security goals and create secure, transparent, accountable, and auditable data related to the supply chain.
