The report also indicates that the median amount of these thefts was half of what it was in the previous year. But One in four people globally have fallen victim to fraud, resulting in losses of US$1.026 trillion per year, according to the Global State of Scams 2023 report, published by the non-profit Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA). The report is based on survey responses from more than 49,000 people in 43 countries and revealed that almost 80 percent of respondents experienced at least one scam in the past year and 59 percent said they encountered fraud attempts at least once a month.
