According to Cointelegraph, Bitcoin Core developers have developed a "serious vulnerability" disclosure policy. Bitcoin Core client developer Antoine Poinsot said that the new policy will allow for better communication of the risks of running outdated versions of Bitcoin Core, and will provide a standardized disclosure process to give researchers more motivation to discover and disclose vulnerabilities responsibly. The new disclosure policy will classify vulnerabilities according to 4 levels of severity: the first category is low (difficult to exploit, low-impact vulnerabilities); the second category is medium (limited impact vulnerabilities, such as remote crashes of local networks); the third category is high (may have a significant impact); the fourth category is critical (threats to the integrity of the entire network). The policy will be "gradually adopted" in the coming months.
