"The Ethereum Foundation's update email account was hacked and used to promote a phishing scam, according to a July 2 blog post. The organization has restored the account, and malicious emails are no longer being sent go again 🕵️‍♂️

Fake emails announcing that the Ethereum Foundation has partnered with the Lido decentralized autonomous organization (LidoDAO) to offer 6.8% returns on Ether (stETH), Wrapped Ether (WETH), or Ether (ETH) have been send.

Users who click the "Start Staking" button in the email will be redirected to a malicious web application, advertising itself as "Staking Launchpad".

When malicious emails were discovered, the organization blocked the attacker from sending further emails and ensured that the attacker could not reach the email address.

Fortunately, the attacker does not appear to gain any benefit from the attack.
