Sneak peek at Web3’s July events, important summits not to be missed.

2024 is already halfway through. For Web3 industry practitioners, “attending conferences” has always been one of the important channels for communication, obtaining the latest information, and establishing offline connections. In the first half of the year, whether it was the East-West intersection of the Hong Kong event or the “big water brings wealth” of the Dubai event, it left a deep impression on the participants. They personally felt the pulse of the industry and discussed the future development direction.
July is here, and there are a series of major events to look forward to. Regional events include IVS2024 KYOTO in Japan, IXO 2024 in South Korea, and the 2024 Blockchain World Expo held in Istanbul for the first time. Ethereum-themed events include ETHCC and EDCON 2024, Bitcoin-themed events include Bitcoin2024 in Tennessee, USA, and Modular Summit, a modular-themed event. IVS2024 KYOTO
Time: July 4 to July 6, 2024
Location: Kyoto, Japan
Highlights: IVS2024 KYOTO will be held in Kyoto, Japan from July 4 to 6. The summit focuses on the transition of enterprises and technologies such as Web2 and artificial intelligence to Web3, and the topics discussed are more focused on how fields such as games, animation and comics can develop to Web3 through NFT. The guests attending the summit include some Japanese officials, and relevant guests from the House of Representatives, the Bank of Japan, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) and digital institutions will outline Japan's national strategy for blockchain. In addition, executives from well-known game publishers Bandai Namco and Square Enix will also be present. Industry participants such as Mo Shaikh of Aptos and Yat Siu of Animoca Brands will also attend.
IVS2024 also places emphasis on the pitching of startups and will host the finals of the startup pitch competition IVS2024 LAUNCHPAD during the conference.

Blockchain Expo World 2024
Time: July 4 to July 7, 2024
Location: Istanbul, Turkey
Highlights: The 2024 Blockchain Expo World will be held at the Istanbul Expo Center in Turkey from July 4 to 7. The summit will mainly gather various exhibitors in the form of booths. The venue covers an area of 12,127 square meters and can accommodate 100,000 visitors per day.
Last year, the Ethereum Foundation chose Istanbul as the host city for Devconnect 2023, which attracted many blockchain professionals to participate. One of the important reasons is that Istanbul has a unique geographical advantage and is a place where Europe and the Asian world are connected.
ETHCC
Time: July 8 to July 11, 2024
Location: Brussels, Belgium
Highlights: EthCC 7 will be held in Brussels, Belgium from July 8 to 11. The summit is hosted by Ethereum France, a French non-profit organization, and aims to promote the popularity and application of blockchain and Ethereum in French-speaking countries. The guests attending unsurprisingly include Vitalik Buterin and some members of the Ethereum Foundation. Unlike several other summits, this conference basically has no participation from government officials. The topics discussed include ZK technology and privacy, token engineering wallets and abstractions, Rollups and expansion solutions, enterprises and regulation, games and autonomous worlds, culture and NFTs, etc. There is also an interesting topic number "Blockchain for good".
After EthCC 7 ends, ETHGlobal will hold the "ETHGlobal Brussels" hackathon in Brussels, Belgium from July 12 to July 14, which may bring many Web3 developers to EthCC 7.

IXO 2024
Date: July 9 to July 10, 2024
Location: Seoul, South Korea
Highlights: IXO 2024 will be held in Seoul, South Korea from July 9 to 10, 2024. The event is hosted by South Korean blockchain media TokenPost and co-organized by Mask Network. In addition to South Korea, the guests attending include executives of Web3 projects in Singapore, Hong Kong, and other countries. In addition, South Korean Congressman Sanghyun Yoo will also attend the event. This event is held before the implementation of South Korea's "Virtual Asset User Protection Act", which is the latest South Korean regulator's regulation on the crypto industry.
The implemented regulatory requirements will take effect on July 19. 29 cryptocurrency exchanges registered with financial authorities, including Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit and Gopax, must regularly evaluate whether to continue supporting trading of their listed currencies. In addition, South Korea has established a Virtual Asset Committee to make recommendations on the virtual asset market and virtual asset business policies and systems.

Highlights: Modular Summit, co-organized by modular blockchain network Celestia Labs and Maven11, will hold an offline event in Brussels from July 21 to 23. Modular Summit is a themed event focusing on "modularity". Topics discussed include the state of modular stacks and about intent, shared sequencers, and ZK.
The uniqueness of this summit also includes the recording of a special edition of the podcast "Sovereign Radio", which mainly interviews speakers from the Modular Summit and focuses on innovative modular blockchain projects and their latest collaborations. The host of the show includes Anna Rose, the host of the ZKPodcast blog, and others.
Bitcoin2024
Time: July 25 to July 27, 2024
Location: Tennessee, USA
Highlights: Bitcoin 2024 will be held at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee from July 25 to 27, 2024. The core focus will be entirely on Bitcoin. In addition to the regular promotion day and hackathon, it will also include "Women of Bitcoin", Satoshi Summer Camp, Bitcoin Market and other unique activities.
Cryptocurrency is playing an important role in this round of US elections, so it is inevitable that some politicians will attend the event in July. Previously, Axios quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that Trump is in talks to give a speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference. Robert F. Kennedy, former Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Senator Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn will also attend.
EDCON 2024
Time: July 26 to July 30, 2024
Location: Tokyo, Japan
Highlights: EDCON is the Ethereum community development conference, which has been held annually since 2017. This year, it was held in Japan. This is also the first time that EDCON is held in Asia, which will attract more Asian practitioners to participate. The last EDCON was held in Montenegro in May 2023, which also attracted many Asian developers.
EDCON 2024 guests also include Vitalik Buterin and some researchers from the Ethereum Foundation, but what is more surprising is that the EDCON 2024 official website highlights a special guest - Keisuke Honda, a Japanese professional football player, former head coach of the Cambodian national team, and currently the co-founder and general partner of the venture capital fund X&KSK.
In addition, the main venue of EDCON 2024 will be held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, which is famous for hosting two Olympic Games.
