According to Cointelegraph, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has urged Elon Musk to tone down the heated debate about foreign tech workers on his platform.
Buterin stated in a December 31 post on X that, although he admires Musk's willingness to fight for free speech, he hopes Musk can lower the 'tone of the discussion' and stop using 'social media bans'.
Musk supports hiring foreign tech workers at U.S. companies, prompting backlash from conservatives who believe this is detrimental to domestic citizens. Subsequently, Musk was accused of disabling key features of accounts that criticized his H1B visa stance.
Buterin emphasized that leaders play a crucial role in setting the tone and should use their power for the benefit of humanity. He warned that 'bans' are ineffective measures to control speech and could lead to the collapse of public discourse.
