1️⃣ Newswire: Canadian Bitcoin exchange CatalX has suspended trading and fund transactions following a security breach. Management suspects the involvement of an employee in the incident. The platform acknowledges a loss of some cryptocurrency assets but has not specified the amount. 🛑
2️⃣ Immunefi: The
#cryptocurrency industry incurred losses of $1.8 billion in 2023 due to hacking and fraud. Despite a more than 50% reduction in damage — losses in 2022 amounted to $3.9 billion — the number of individual incidents increased by 90%, rising from 168 to 319. 💸
3️⃣ Scam Sniffer: A user fell victim to the hacking group known as Pink Drainer. In a fraudulent scheme, they lost $4.4 million in
#chainlink (LINK) tokens. According to available data, during two transactions, perpetrators emptied the victim's wallet of 275,700 LINK. The attack is believed to have involved social engineering, a method commonly used by Pink Drainer members. 🎣

#ethereum after responding to a job posting on Upwork. The person posing as a recruiter sent him a test task to debug code in two npm packages hosted on GitHub. Çeliktepe downloaded and completed the task, only to discover after the "technical interview" that his
#metamask wallet was completely emptied. 🕵️♂️
5️⃣ ASEC: Attackers are seeking poorly protected Linux SSH servers, connecting them into a network for cryptocurrency mining and conducting
#ddos attacks. Hackers brute force SSH server credentials and, upon success, deploy malware and scanners to locate other vulnerable systems. 🖥️
