According to CoinGecko, the global assets invested in spot Bitcoin ETFs now total $4.16 billion, with approximately $2 billion allocated to seven spot Bitcoin ETFs launched in Canada since 2021. Canada is also the home of the largest Bitcoin ETF by assets, as Purpose Bitcoin ETF manages $819.1 million. Furthermore, ETC Group Physical Bitcoin (BTCE.DE), initiated in Germany in June 2020, currently oversees $802 million in assets, ranking as the second-largest ETF to date.

In contrast, the other seven ETFs in Europe are domiciled in tax havens like Jersey, the Cayman Islands, and Liechtenstein, with smaller offerings trading in Brazil and Australia. As of now, US regulators have only sanctioned crypto ETFs linked to futures contracts, such as the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF, which manages assets of around $1.2 billion. There are currently up to 10 spot ETF applications awaiting approval from the SEC. CoinGecko's report speculates, "It remains to be seen if potential US spot Bitcoin ETFs can draw greater investor interest and surpass Canadian and German ETFs." (Reuters)
