Although the company closed the vulnerability in 2015, passwords created earlier could be accessed in this way. While Michael does not remember when he created the password, the hackers found that Bitcoins were transferred to the wallet on April 13, 2013. Then, they tried a large number of passwords one by one until they found the correct password.
