According to Bitcoincom, Bitcoin mining company Marathon Digital Holdings has announced a new 2 megawatt (MW) pilot project to use heat generated by Bitcoin mining operations to heat a community of 11,000 residents in Finland. The initiative is Marathon’s first digital asset computing operation designed for a district heating solution. The core of the project is to heat water in a centralized location and distribute it to local areas through underground pipes. Marathon is exploring ways to monetize its computing power by generating recycled heat rather than relying on fossil fuels.
