Pepe the Frog was happy and innocent in 2005, but now Pepe the Frog is beyond Matt Furie's control. In a 2021 documentary, he said he was "very upset" that the frog he created would be abused and ruined by secular society. Heartbroken, he decided to kill Pepe the Frog with his own pen in 2017.
