Odaily Planet Daily News Apple said it will suspend the launch of the "Apple Intelligence" program in Europe. Citing government regulations, Apple said it will not launch several new features, including its upcoming AI toolkit, in the European Union. Earlier this month, Apple released a series of artificial intelligence features and services at its annual WWDC conference. These features and services are called "Apple Intelligence" and will bring artificial intelligence enhancements to its entire product line. Apple also announced a partnership with OpenAI to make its flagship artificial intelligence model ChatGPT available as an optional feature in the Siri virtual assistant. Apple said that the EU's new commercial competition rules led to its decision to suspend AI upgrades and specific features of the iPhone, including iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay Screen Sharing. This decision could affect millions of users and the sales of upcoming new hardware. Apple said: "Due to the regulatory uncertainty brought about by the Digital Markets Act (DMA), it is believed that three of these features cannot be launched to EU users this year." The bill sets out specific obligations, bans and fines for companies, aiming to resolve conflicts of interest and provide a fair competitive environment for European companies. (Decrypt)
