Golden Finance reported that Nick Percoco, chief strategy officer of Kraken, said that the trading platform regards the recent loss of nearly $3 million as a criminal case and is coordinating with law enforcement to recover the funds. Percoco said that these unnamed CertiK researchers stole millions of dollars of cryptocurrency from Kraken by withdrawing funds that had been deposited into their accounts before the deposit was completed. He wrote that the attackers could effectively print assets. CertiK defended its actions on X, claiming that Kraken threatened company employees. CertiK also claimed that the total amount of funds Kraken requested to be returned did not match the cryptocurrency it stole. In addition, Taylor Monahan, CEO and founder of Ethereum wallet manager MyCrypto, said that CertiK should be afraid of Kraken's lawyers, damage to its reputation, and how the storm might affect CertiK's internal culture. She also pointed out that because several crypto projects audited by CertiK had been attacked in the past, speculation about the possibility of insider operations began to circulate online.
