[ZKsync scam label popular among community outrage]

ZKsync recently announced that it would allocate 17.5% of its native tokens as airdrops, but the move sparked widespread backlash. Community members expressed dissatisfaction with the airdrop distribution and eligibility criteria, with many calling for funding to be withdrawn and a switch to other second-layer solutions such as Arbitrum.

Questions about the transparency and fairness of the airdrop process intensified after cryptocurrency exchange Bybit announced it would list the ZKsync token. OKX CEO Star Xu mentioned that many cryptocurrency KOLs accused ZKsync of being a scam because the airdrop failed to meet the expectations of the original community.

The hashtag ZKsyncScam quickly trended on social media, with one critic named Sarkesh strongly stating that ZKsync is now considered the biggest scammer and threatening to no longer use its network. Crypto House co-founder WindCrypto pointed out irregularities in the distribution process, such as Bybit hot wallets receiving a large number of airdrops and some token recipients receiving only 0 or 1 transaction.

Immutable ambassador Meriç accused the ZKsync team of favoring internal supporters over community members, fueling anger over unfair distribution. dForce founder Mindao Yang also said that the distribution criteria are too arbitrary, which is worse than no airdrop.

ZKsync responded to these concerns, explaining the eligibility criteria, which include interacting with ten smart contracts, providing liquidity to a DeFi protocol, participating in Gitcoin rounds on ZKsync Lite, trading ten different ERC20 tokens, owning the Libertas Omnibus NFT, and Trade three different months and more on ZKsync Lite. The qualification snapshot was taken on March 24, 2024 at 0:00 UTC, symbolizing the first anniversary of the ZKsync Era mainnet launch.

Despite the clarification provided by ZKsync, the community remains skeptical, the ZKsyncScam tag continues to trend, and the debate continues to rage.
