Apple has just announced the personal intelligence system Apple Intelligence along with collaborating with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its ecosystem.

According to a June 11 press release, this new system combines powerful generative models with personal context, setting a new standard for privacy in AI.

For text-based apps, this feature provides the ability to edit and summarize text, summarize emails and message threads, and prioritize notifications. While on phone and note-taking apps, it will be possible to allow audio recording, transcription and summarization. Apple Intelligence will also include image creation features through Image Playground.

The system also enables support for searching for text in photos, basic photo editing, and organizing photos into stories. Apple's virtual assistant Siri will understand language better and offer more features like working within Apple and third-party apps.

In particular, Apple also announced that it will integrate OpenAI's ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to access it without switching tools.

Siri can use ChatGPT for complex queries, and users can create content and images using ChatGPT capabilities directly within Apple's writing tools.

Apple says users will be able to access ChatGPT for free and without needing to create an account. Subscribers can connect to their paid account.

Greg Brockman, President and co-founder of OpenAI, confirmed the partnership with Apple in a post on X.

Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT features are expected to roll out in the coming months, with some features possibly rolling out by the end of 2025.
