This is a new scam on Telegram/btok (maybe it already exists)

This is probably the case

This is what I personally experienced today. A scammer will use a telegram from a friend you haven't contacted for a long time to talk to you, asking why multiple accounts of yours appear in his conversation window?

Then the other party will ask you to take a screenshot and ask you if this situation has also happened to you. This situation will probably happen to you, and then after you take the screenshot, your screenshot will be telegraphed with your new IP login verification code.

But most people don't pay attention, so they just send it directly. In this way, the scammer can directly log into your Telegram account and commit fraud in your name.

Here are a few points to explain:

Why would a scammer have your friend’s Telegram account? In fact, many people's mobile phones in Telegram will automatically generate a Telegram number by default (similar to whether your address book has logged into Telegram, etc.)

Some people's mobile phone numbers have already been changed. At this time, this mobile phone number will always appear as a friend in your Telegram address book.

Why you may be deceived after taking a screenshot is because when you take a screenshot, there will be a login code that has just been issued. This login code is the verification code sent by the scammer when logging in to your Telegram account from another place.

Most people think that the other party is their friend, so they ignore it. In fact, the other party just uses a number that no friend in your address book has used for a long time.

Why can he log into your telegram? One is that he has your Telegram number, and the other is that he can see your phone number (generally, if we do not set privacy settings, the phone number will be exposed to the outside)

During this process, because my name will be displayed in the other party's address book, it is easier for me to let my guard down when he calls me by my name. But in fact, all of our Telegram numbers have the names of friends in the address book.

When I was fighting with a scammer today, the other party kept asking me to take screenshots. I was busy with something at that time, and the other party kept asking why there were three accounts of mine on his chat interface. He drew my attention and then asked me to take screenshots.

I was a little impatient at that time, and I said, why are you bothering with this matter? He said this was not a dispute. He said he was afraid that there would be a problem with my account, so he asked me to quickly send a screenshot to see if I also have three of his account names.

I ignored it. I was busy at that time. After I finished my work, I felt something was wrong, so I sent a WeChat message to my friend with that account. As a result, my friend did not reply to me on WeChat, and then Telegram kept asking me to send screenshots of the conversation.

At this time, I saw a verification code being sent out in my Telegram dialog box (when logging in from another place, a verification code will be used for verification). At this time, I knew that this person was a liar.

As a result, I asked directly, are you from northern Myanmar? Then the other party didn’t say anything, just deleted the chat history between me and him (Telegram can delete the other party’s chat history through one end), and blocked him...

Telegram is an instant messaging tool because it is very smart and friendly to encryption, so we use it more often. However, because we often think of this type of messaging software as WeChat, sometimes some behaviors may not be noticed by scammers. Exploited a loophole.

Therefore, everyone should be wary of this kind of instant messaging tool. When there is a situation like this, it is best to confirm it twice, otherwise it will be considered a scammer.
