The founder of the Bitcoin Embassy Bar in Mexico, Lorena Ortíz, announced the closure of the space after 5 years of operation, due to “health problems.” The emblematic site is a pioneer of the ecosystem in the country, since it hosted workshops, conferences and seminars.
Bitcoin Embassy Bar will close its doors at the end of July, closing the site that served as an embassy for the birth of blockchain projects and bitcoin initiatives. It functioned as an ideal space for networking for the crypto community in Mexico.

Lorena Ortiz explained on her social networks that closing Bitcoin Embassy Bar is due to health problems she experienced at the beginning of the year. However, he clarified that the physical space closes its doors, but that the concept of “Bitcoin Embassy Bar is still alive.”
“It is painful to say goodbye, since together we turned this space into something of ours and the entire community for 5 years. We welcomed many new bitcoiners, witnessed the birth of many projects, built friendships that will last a lifetime, and shared experiences and learnings that we will always remember. And although the physical location closes, this is not a definitive goodbye, since Bitcoin Embassy will still be alive,” explained Lorena Ortíz.
The reaction of the community was immediate, highlighting the work of the site to “educate people”, others showed their satisfaction for having entered the site as consumers and exhibitors. Others showed their desire to improve the “business side” of the project, trusting that there will be a way to recover the concept.
Bitcoin Embassy Bar was one of the pioneer sites in Mexico to begin accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment.
