Support Continues for Binance Executive: Federal Prosecutors Sent Letter

Former federal prosecutors and officials in the US have called for the recovery of the Binance executive.

A group of 108 former federal prosecutors and civil servants sent a letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

More effort needed

It was emphasized that the US government should make "more" efforts to rescue Binance's legal compliance manager Tigran Gambaryan from prison in Nigeria.

Among those who sent the letter is former federal prosecutor Katie Haun, who is now on Coinbase's board of directors.

It was stated that the steps taken by the government to save Gambaryan were "totally inadequate" and that "the consequences of continuing to remain inactive could be dire."

The letter said, "We request you to use all the power of US diplomacy and demand Tigran's immediate release and return to his family and the country he served honorably."

Gambaryan's situation in Nigeria

Gambaryan, a US citizen, worked at the US Tax Administration (IRS) before joining Binance.

Gambaryan, who visited the country in February at the invitation of the Nigerian government, was arrested on charges of money laundering and tax evasion. Gambaryan denied the accusations.

It was learned that Gambaryan fainted during the hearing last month. Although the judge decided to transfer him from Kuje prison to a private hospital, the authorities in Nigeria allegedly did not comply.

Recently, 16 members of Congress in the USA sent a similar letter to Joe Biden and requested the rescue of Gambaryan.
